Recreational Classes (Future Stars)
Recreational classes are all about fun, making friends and learning to follow instructions. Students in recreational classes gain a foundations in calisthenics, ballet and gymnastics technique. Future Stars classes are an exciting, recreational class for students who just want to have fun in a structured environment. In class students will play games, use our air track and other gymnastic equipment and learn 2-3 routines per year.
Commitment: Low Commitment
Performances: Showcase and Mini-concert
Uniform: TBC
Development Classes (Tinies)
Development classes aim to introduce students to performing on the big stage without pressure. The coach will decide if the team is entered into performances as either a demonstration team or a competitive team based on how they develop during Terms 1 and 2. Students in development classes gain a good foundations in calisthenics, ballet and gymnastics technique and learn 3-4 routines per year. Development classes help prepare students to move into competitive classes.
Students are selected for our Tinies team based on their performance and participation in our Term 4 Tinies Workshops and on recommendation from team coaches. New students who would like to be considered for our Tinies team, please contact us.
Commitment: Moderate Commitment - Students in development classes should try not to miss classes. Calisthencis is a team sport and it is difficult for coaches and students to teach and learn routines if students are not at class regularly.
Performances: Showcase (July), Innovation Tinies Competition (May) and at CASA State Championship (August).
Uniform: Full competition tracksuit is required
Competitive Classes
Students in sub-junior competitive class learn a routine in all calisthenics core items - March, Rods, Exercises, Clubs, and 1 fancy item each year. Students in Juniors to Seniors also learn an additional item each year, Aesthetic. Routines are learnt during Terms 1 to 3. Whilst we know the term "competitive" can sound scary to parents and children, we can assure you being a part of a competitive team is fun and a great way to build confidence, resilience and friendships.
Commitment: Moderate to High - There is an expectation that students in competitive teams attend all calsses and performances. Students in Gold team members are also required to attend a stage rehearsal at the Royalty Theatre (July)
Performances: Showcase (July), CASA State Championship (August), Sub-junior Gold, Junior Gold, Intermediate and Seniors may also be required to attend an additional competition (May/June)
Uniform: Full competition tracksuit is required
Calisthenics Skills
Calisthenics Skills are similar traditional ballet exams are taught during Term 3 (after the completion of State Championships) and in Term 4. We encourage all students to participate in classes and Skills Exams. It is compulsory for students want to be consider for Sub-junior Gold or Junior Gold the following year to participate in Skills classes and exams. Solos & Duos
Solos and duos are optional. The routine comprises of elements of Free Exercises, Dance and may include Aesthetic and Rhythmic style movements. Solos and Duos are a great way to develop confidence and performance skills as well as extending the skills learnt in team items. Students who participate in solos and duos must have up to date Calisthenics Skills credentials. Graceful
Graceful solos are optional. A graceful routine comprises of elements of Aesthetic and Rhythmic style movements, ballet, and lyrical dance. Graceful solos are a great way to develop confidence and performance skills as well as extending the skills learnt in team items. Students who participate in graceful solos must have up to date Calisthenics Skills credentials. If you are interested in participating in a graceful, pleased speak with your team coach or email us.
